'Tis The Season

Well, we seldom see genuine acts of kindness anymore but Brendan O' Carroll has definitely out-done himself...erm..again!
For the second year running the comic and Mrs Browns Boys creator has donated a huge amount of vouchers to St. Vincent de Paul so that hundreds of families can have a free ham and turkey dinner this Christmas!!

This is a huge thing to do in my opinion and while many will choose to be sceptical of his motives and so on, I feel it is nothing more than a true gesture of good will! The Irish star grew up without many of the priviliges he or his kids now enjoy, and while most tend to forget their past, O'Carroll hasn't and has opted, not once but twice, to give back to the community of inner-city Dublin.

Brendan is a true testament to his mother who, although she didn't have much herself, always found ways to help out those in need when she could! So it isn't off a stone he licked it!

Andy Doogue, President of SVP said:
“This year in particular we are receiving requests for food more than ever. Our volunteers will ensure that families who are most in need will benefit from Brendan O’Carroll’s generosity.”

On a similar note, if you haven't already seen the video made by a group of sixth class students and their teachers about helping out the less fortunate this Christmas, you need to, and being the general all-round good guy that I am.. I brought it over here for your viewing pleasure.

- A word of warning first though, this may cause even the hardest of rock-like emotionless hardy-boys to shed a little tear! Truly inspirational!!

Not only is it emotional in it's concept, but the simple fact that a small group of 12 year olds can have such a vision toward helping those less fortunate is astounding!!

It makes me feel like such a selfish little so-and-so for moaning about getting out of my warm bed in the mornings and just wanting new stuff for Christmas!

These kids have genuinely instilled in me, the true meaning of Christmas!

With the way things are at the moment, financially speaking, a lot of people need our help and I would ask that you do so in whatever way you possibly can, like Brendan O'Carroll and these kids did.

Faith in humanity: Restored.
